The difference between sand blasting and sanding process of glass bottles and glass coloring

1. Frosting process

Frosting refers to immersing the glass bottle in the prepared acid liquid (or applying the paste containing acid) and using strong acid to corrode the surface of the glass bottle. At the same time, the ammonia hydrogen fluoride in the strong acid solution makes the glass surface form crystals. So if the frosting process is well done, the frosted glass surface is extremely smooth, and the hazy effect is caused by the scattering of crystals. If the surface is relatively rough, it indicates that the acid has seriously eroded the glass, which is a sign of the immature craftsmanship of the frosting master. Or some parts still have no crystals (commonly known as not grinding to sand, or the glass has spots), which also belongs to the master’s poor control of the process. This process is technically difficult. The best performance of this process is that sparkling crystals appear on the glass surface, which is formed under a critical condition. The main reason is that ammonia hydrogen fluoride has reached the end of consumption.

2. Sandblasting process

This process is very common. It is to hit the surface of the glass bottle with the sand shot from the spray gun at high speed to make the glass bottle form a fine concave and convex surface, so as to achieve the effect of scattering light and make the light form a hazy feeling when it passes through. The surface feel of glass products in sandblasting process is relatively rough. Because the glass surface is damaged, it looks like white glass in the original transparent glass. The process difficulty is average.

3. Difference

The two processes are completely different. The cost of frosted glass bottles is higher than that of sandblasted glass bottles, and the effect mainly depends on the needs of users. Some unique glass bottles are not suitable for frosting. From the perspective of pursuing nobility, frosting should be selected. Generally, sandblasting process can be completed in factories, but sanding process is not easy to do well.

The frosted glass bottle is a kind of sand bottle that is formed after production, with strong texture, but limited pattern; The sandblasted glass bottle is carved with paper first and then sprayed with patterns according to the requirements. In this way, any pattern you want can be carved on the spot. The surface grain size of sandblasted glass bottle is finer than that of sandblasted glass bottle.
